Unfortunately, even for a town the size of Fort Wayne, great dining is limited....so is fine dining, but Paula's can be outstanding (and a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for). The crab cakes are a winner, with more crab than filling; and the salmon with wasabi, seabass and tuna were far better than one would expect from a landlocked town. Popular dishes that other tables seemed to be enjoying were the ciopinno (the people at the next table said it was as good as NY's Little Italy..(.but I assume they have never been to Grotto Azzura because that's the best!), walleye (fried) and fried assorted seafood. The atmosphere is homespun busy and upbeat with the sounds of people enjoying themselves.

I am a HUGE fan of this place. When my friend flies in from Boston we always go there. Every single time the food and ambiance has been fabulous. My favorite dishes..... the scallops and the creme brulee. They make wonderful martinis there as well.

A nice neighborhood place. The bouillabaisse was full of delicious and fresh seafood; the portion was not large, but it was well done. The walleye fingers were light and delicious (great for kids), and the steaks are great too. Crusty homemade bread. The restaurant is charming.

The food was good, the staff was pleasant and the drinks were cold, but I didn't feel any connection to it the way many of my friends have in the past.

This place is amazing! Seafood fresh. Great service and great selection! I have been here a few times and it is always great. I drive an hour and a half to eat here. In my opinion this is the best seafood place that I have been to ever.

This review is so overdue that I'm embarrassed to be writing it. I will try to find a way to get over that and do what I should have done a couple months ago - write a review about this jewel of a restaurant. I would by lying if I talked about what I ate because I really don't remember. But I vividly remember the great service, the nice ambiance, the solid bar and the overall experience of eating here. In fact, I liked it so much I took a group of people there two nights after my first visit. I ate at Paula's with a small group of work associates (about 6 people). We had such a great time that I took a group of 12 there two nights later. I'm sure Ft. Wayne has lots of good restaurants, but Paula's was good enough to bring me back for two of the three dinners I had when I was in town. I would give anything to remember the name of our waitress. She was so good that I insisted on her waiting on us when we returned. Everything about both visits was top notch. If you go there, ask about the secret room upstairs. It's a fun story... Enjoy

paulas is honestly one of my favorite restaurants. not just in fort wayne, but ever. it's just really really good food. i always find myself conflicted about what to order because of how much sounds tasty on the menu, yet never find myself disappointed. also, the staff is incredibly service oriented and super friendly. there's really nothing about this place that misses... some of my favorite things about paula's -the new england clam chowder -the walleye (it's one of their most popular dishes) -the crispy warm bread that comes out once you've ordered -the bruschetta -the martinis and i echo zach k's sentiment of being surprised that such fresh fish can be found in a landlocked state! who knew?

I really, really wanted to like this place. But with entrees priced at $21-30, I, simply put, expect more. About the menu: if the seafood is fresh, why coat so many of the entrees in breading? What about delicate flavors that complement the fish? I ordered the Mediterranean whitefish. It was plated sloppily over wilted spinach (although the spinach was good!) and *drenched* in lemon. My husband joked that, "They must have dropped a jar of capers," because at least 4 Tablespoons landed on my plate. In sum, the dish was poorly executed. For $15, I would have been more generous in my review. But at Paula's fine-dining prices, when my "side" of cavatappi is limp, and its artichoke and tomato (assembled sauce) is straight from the can, I just have to offer tough feedback.

Truly amazing! Thank you for an awesome lunch yesterday! I ordered one of the plates on the "specials" menu, which was a salad with seared scallops. Wow! It was absolutely delicious! My wife also ordered a dish off the specials menu, which was a bed of greens with grilled halibut. It was pretty good, but we both agreed that the star of the lunch was my salad with the delicious and perfectly cooked scallops. In addition, I started my lunch with a cup of the carrot ginger soup, which was pretty tasty, and my wife started off with the clam chowder. Next time, I would order the chowder too. We finished off the sublime experience with a wonderful piece of carrot cake to split. Awesome! Service was slightly slow to start off, but we were in and out the door in under an hour during lunch. Altogether, with tip, our meal was about $47. My salad was about $12.95 and main entree my wife choose was slightly more at $13 something or the other. We will definitely be back to savor more of the wonderful menu options this location has to offer.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Fort Wayne. I don't know how they pull it off in a land-locked state, but the fish is always fresh. And the bartenders make textbook Old Fashioneds.
